Angels

They are the beings of the nine hierarchies that are closest to us. We each have our own angel in whose arms we sleep each night. Our guardian angel is closest to us one night a year, the night of our birthday. They have no physical aspect; their lowest is an etheric body. Angels underwent the human condition of life during the last embodiment of the earth, called Old Moon. We too when the earth is next re-embodied, called Jupiter, will act as angels do towards what would be newly evolved animal beings.

Each night our angel brings to us the spirit member that is closest to our soul, Spirit-self or Manas. Our angel weaves or colours the pictures of our dreaming with this member or our spirit. As we develop and gain greater access or embody Manas, our higher self, more and more our angel becomes freer to work more in the world, less burdened by caring for us alone.

In the Apocalypse of St John [Revelation 12:1] Manas is the woman clothed with the sun, the moon under her feet, and crowned with 12 stars. She is about to give birth to a son and a fiery dragon waits to devour the child. This is a picture of that higher self, or part of our higher self, that will become ours in the next embodiment of the earth, Jupiter, just as our ego (self-consciousness) is ours in this embodiment of the earth. Our Angel prepares our future with us each night as we sleep. As our ego (self-consciousness) is centred on individuality Manas will be more inclusive. We will then feel the joys and sorrows of another person similarly as we feel our own.

The nine hierarchies are the Seraphim, the Cherubim, the Thrones, Kyriotetes, Dynamis, Exusiai (the Elohim of Genesis), Archai, Archangels, Angels. It is often broken into three groups: First Hierarchy – Seraphim (also called Spirits of Love), Cherubim (also called Spirits of Harmony), and Thrones (Spirits of Will); Second Hierarchy – Kyriotetes (Spirits of Wisdom), Dynamis (Spirits of Motion), and Exusiai (Spirits of Form); and Third Hierarchy – Archai (Spirits of Personality), Archangels (Spirits of Fire), and Angels (Spirits of Twilight). God as the Trinity, the Absolute Infinite Beingness, exists at the top of this golden chain, above the Seraphim. The god of Genesis, in the bible, Yahweh sits just before the middle. Rudolf Steiner tells us that most people when they think of God only reach to the level of their angel. Spiritual existence stretches on far beyond what we can imagine.
